Digital Dojo Launches

A new iPhone application aims to give Bujinkan practitioners a dedicated place to record, organise and follow their martial arts training.

Called Bujinkan — A Warrior’s Journey, the app has been developed by Eric Bojonell as an independent training companion for Bujinkan students. It brings together curriculum information, training records, progress tracking, dojo activities and resources relating to Bujinkan history and culture.

At the centre of the app is a digital training journal. Students can record individual training sessions, techniques studied, dojo visits, training partners, notes, photographs and videos. The app also allows practitioners to follow the Ten Chi Jin curriculum and monitor their training activity and progress between ranks.

The curriculum section provides searchable information covering Kihon, Ten Chi Jin, the nine ryūha, weapons and rank-related study paths. According to its creators, the initial collection of techniques and video references will be expanded through reviewed additions and ongoing updates.

The app also includes features aimed at connecting students with their dojo. Its Connected Dojo function provides a private space where teachers and students can share training information, with options for custom curriculum paths, dojo video links, events, attendance records, announcements, private chat and student rosters. Teachers can also verify rank and progress, while recognition and instruction remain under the control of the individual instructor.

Beyond training records, A Warrior’s Journey includes a library covering Bujinkan history, the nine schools, articles and selected video resources. Users can also discover public dojo listings and control how much profile information they share.

A news and events section provides a feed of selected sources, while practitioners can keep track of Tai Kai and dojo events. There is even a Shuriken Challenge, providing a more light-hearted element to the application.

The creators describe the app as a way of connecting what practitioners study with what they actually train, creating a record of their development rather than simply leaving their training history to memory.

Bujinkan — A Warrior’s Journey is now available for iPhone through the App Store.
